The Story Behind the Trust – From Pain to Purpose
Mr. Elangeswaran is the Managing Director of Thaimai Anbu Karangal (TAK), Salem. His life journey is an inspiring story of dedication, struggle, and service to society.
Mr. Elangeswaran was born into a very poor family background as the sixth child. In 1989, while he was studying in the 10th standard, his father passed away due to illness. After this tragic loss, his elder brother Mr. Manoharan, at the age of just 22, took responsibility for the entire family. During this period, the family faced severe hardship, struggling even for basic needs such as food and daily essentials.
In 1991, Mr. Elangeswaran completed his Higher Secondary education (HSC) and joined B.E. Computer Science at National Engineering College, Kovilpatti. However, due to financial difficulties, he had to discontinue his studies during the second year. Determined to continue learning, he later joined an evening college and completed part-time computer courses while working as a delivery boy in a courier service in Salem.
At the age of 32, he got married. His wife became a strong source of encouragement and motivated him to dedicate his life to serving needy and marginalized people. Inspired by her support, in 2007, he established a special school for mentally challenged children in Kannankuruchi, a semi-urban area of Salem District, named Thaimai Anbu Karangal (TAK). The institution was inaugurated by Shri Mathivanan, IAS, former District Collector of Salem, in the presence of Mr. Veerapandi A. Raja, MLA.
